So, we celebrated the 4th of July

I think I forgot to mention that I plan to use nick names in the blog. This is a public blog and I don't want to put my kids names all over the internet.

This year to celebrate Independence Day we went to a cabin in Island Park and spent the day with My Love's Dad's Family. We woke up early and threw the kids in the car so that we could be to the Cabin by 8:30. In the rush we forgot to bring water and Little Ones shoes, but everything turned out just fine.
When we got to the Cabin everyone was eating breakfast. Only a few aunts were ready to head out. We knew we had a definite window before nap time so we left right away for Happy Lakes.

They were in a hurry because they wanted to get a good spot by the lake. There is only one picnic spot and we got it. The kids helped claim the tables.

Little One saw the Kayaks and knew right away that she wanted to sit in one. She spent a good 10 mins like this. Please note the boat is not in the water. I am a good mother.

After I changed Nugget's diaper he wanted to come play with the boat too. I think he was trying to figure out what the paddles were for. I told Little One that she was not allowed to bring the boat on the water until she had a life jacket, hadn't arrived yet.

This Picture is so cute I think it needs to be bigger.

Little One found a hoodie that some one had left on a chair and was so excited! She had found a jacket and thought that now she could get in the water with the boat! Wrong kind of jacket, girl.

My Love learned to stand-up paddle board. I don't actually have a picture of him standing up, but I swear he did make it to his feet.

I think he only fell twice. He said that the water was so cold it was hard to breathe.

Little One saw daddy out on the water and wanted to join him. I looked away for a second (Nugget was trying to eat the whole beach) and when I looked back she was already waist deep in the water. She got completely soaked trying to chase daddy so we had to take the wet clothes off. But she wouldn't wear a towel!

Finally, the life jackets arrived. The kids did not like the way they fit.

After nap time some people started working on dinner. The kids and some others played with fireworks outside.

My kids are half Canadian, but I think that on the 4th of July they because full American. This is Little One in a rocking chair, on the porch of a cabin, watching fireworks, petting a dog, with a gun behind her. I don't think it gets more American!

 Nugget loved the fireworks!

 Little One, not so much.

All the girl cousins loved Little One ans were so nice to her.

Here, she is getting her hair brushed. She doesn't even let me do that at home.

The food was delicious. Which reminds me, If you are reading this and brought food can you please give me your recipe! you can post it as comment or send me an email or something.

I love family! It was so great to see/meet everyone and I know the kids had a great time.

EXTRA EXTRA!

Here are some pictures from other things we did this week.
